Day 1 Dublin

Well, it's day 1 if you don't count the 35 hours flying round half the world to get here! Not a particularly bad trip, but it's SUCH a long way. Having compression stockings  and an exit aisle seat made the flights infinitely more bearable. What a relief finally catching up with Keeley in Heathrow after a harrowing wait to get through Customs. I grabbed a couple of litre bottles of Baileys. ( 2 for 25 pounds was too good a bargain to pass by.) WE really didn't need any extra weight to carry, AND you're not supposed to take more than 100ml bottles of liquid on the plane- still! Heathrow has undoubtedly the toughest security anywhere. I always seem to have problems here- what am I talking about? I always have problems everywhere! I just can't seem to understand the rules properly, even after ringing to check with Qantas before I left so I would get it right!

We caught a maxi taxi into the city with an Irish cabbie who was every informative, 'twas a pity about his thick Irish brogue which made comprehension difficult. Our hotel in Dublin is the Trinity Capital ( I had to look at the hotel stationery as my brain is in zombie mode) and it's a lovely boutique type hotel close to everything. Well I don't really know that's it's close to everything as I haven't ventured out of the room yet. I have left that to my intrepid fellow travellers who are all out traipsing the streets of Dublin in search of cheap eats and anything else they can find.  The boys have gone to find a pub in which to watch the All Ireland Gaelic Football Final, and of course to sample the local brew(s).

As for me, I am endeavouring to stay awake until dinner which we are planning will be an early one. It's  neither hot nor cold here at the moment, and neither sunny nor rainy, difficult sort of weather to describe actually. Will update later when I have something more interesting to report!
